Our bodies are still suffering from the intense summer heat. Though its physical effects are commonly known, have you ever considered how it influences your mood? According to research, some people get angrier, more easily agitated, and more likely to lose their cool in hot conditions. Remind yourself that you’re not alone if any of this sounds familiar. A lot of people get easily agitated in extremely hot weather. In addition, there are additional summertime-related factors that may aggravate you. Learn more about a few of them by reading on.

Sleep deprivation: Insufficient sleep is a major contributor to irritability. The discomfort of high temperatures during summertime often throws off sleep cycles, resulting in restless nights and groggy mornings.

Changes in hormones: Stress chemicals like cortisol can also be released in response to heat. It may surprise you to learn that a spike in cortisol causes anxiety, nervousness, and yes, irritability.

Psychological impact: As the temperature rises, people typically become impatient and find things to be more annoying.

Remain hydrated: Drinking lots of water is the best way to stay cool. Steer clear of tea, coffee, alcohol, and other fizzy beverages. Drink plenty of water even when you’re not thirsty.

Put on appropriate clothing: To help regulate body temperature, choose light-colored, breathable fabrics over tight, dark-coloured clothing that will make you feel stuffy and uncomfortable.
