Taylor Swift has retaliated after Justin Baldoni’s lawyer stated that she will take a deposition in the ongoing legal dispute between him and Blake Lively, his co-star from It Ends With Us. Contrary to what Baldoni’s team alleged, Swift’s attorney stated on Friday that she had “no material role” in the case and declined to be deposed.
Swift’s “preexisting professional obligations” are the reason why Baldoni’s lawyer said on Thursday that she asked for an agreement to take Swift’s deposition in late October. Lively’s lawyer has accused Baldoni of attempting to drag Swift into the legal system “to generate a media spectacle in this matter” and is requesting that the judge reject the deadline extension. In the case, the singer would only give a deposition if Baldoni’s attorneys could persuade US District Judge Lewis Liman to give her more time to testify.
It’s the most recent development in Lively and Baldoni’s well-known legal drama. Following the embarrassing promotional campaign for their 2024 film, which Baldoni also produced and directed, the It Ends With Us cast members have been embroiled in a series of litigation in a federal court in New York.
Last year, Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni and his studio in New York, claiming that he spearheaded an effort to “destroy” her reputation and that she had experienced sexual harassment on site.
