Two fascinating developments have been happening at the same time since last month. Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the Congress, is, on the one hand, traveling the nation campaigning with a poll pitch that is rife with allusions to radical Leftist concepts, such as the redistribution of wealth from the rich to the poor and the pervasiveness of caste dynamics in the IIT selection process. However, the state of the distant United States is adamantly supporting strict police action against faculty and awake students who are demonstrating against Israel’s offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Although these two events are taking place in two different regions of the world, they are connected by a sinister thread.

Rahul Gandhi must be aware of the potential damage his stance could cause to the country. For example, the leader of Congress is seen comparing the Indian IIT-JEE exam to the American SAT in a widely shared social media video. He begins by claiming that because White people created the SAT, Black and Hispanic students can’t do well on it.
