Archer, a US eVTOL maker, announced on Thursday that it will fly its Midnight aircraft, which will operate as a flying taxi in the UAE, in the Emirate in the next months, with plans to conduct a passenger flight in Abu Dhabi later this year. Archer’s first Launch Edition customer, Abu Dhabi Aviation (ADA), intends to deploy an initial fleet of Midnight aircraft later this year.
Archer and Abu Dhabi Aviation signed an agreement this week to establish a framework for funding the deployment of the Midnight Launch Edition aircraft. To promote the introduction of flying taxi operations in the UAE, Archer announced that its personnel would now collaborate with Abu Dhabi Aviation (ADA) to fly Midnight in the coming months, with a passenger trip planned for Abu Dhabi later this year.
In addition, the two will collaborate on pilot training, flight operations, and community participation. Archer also intends to supply ADA with a team of pilots, technicians, and engineers to support the initial operational ramp, ensuring a safe and effective deployment.
