The Dubai-based airline flydubai said Wednesday that it will begin offering direct flights to Damascus on June 1, 2025. Daily flights will depart from Terminal 2 of Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Damascus International Airport (DAM).
“We are very pleased to be the first national carrier to resume flights to Syria after 12 years of halted operations, stated Ghaith Al Ghaith, CEO of flydubai, in response to the company’s decision to resume operations to Syria.
Damascus has unique cultural and historical value in the area. We are thrilled to return to the city with a direct daily service, underscoring our dedication to helping the United Arab Emirates promote regional connections.
The company started operating flights to Damascus in June 2009, about 16 years ago, making it one of its original destinations. Following the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority’s (GCAA) statement earlier this year in April to resume flights between the two countries, flydubai has decided to resume operations to Damascus.”Passengers from the UAE and throughout the network will be able to take advantage of convenient travel options to the market with the relaunch of flights to Damascus,” stated Jeyhun Efendi, Divisional Senior Vice President, Commercial Operations and E-commerce at flydubai.
