Bill Clinton, the former President of the United States, and Hillary Clinton, the former Secretary of State, have agreed to testify in the congressional investigation into Jeffrey Epstein, a sex offender who died.
On social media, Bill Clinton’s deputy chief of staff verified the news by saying, “The former President and former Secretary of State will be there.” The Republican-controlled US House of Representatives was about to vote on putting both Clintons in criminal contempt for ignoring judicial summonses when this happened.
The Department of Justice has disclosed Epstein files that show a picture of Bill Clinton, but the former Democratic president has denied doing anything improper.
We don’t know when the depositions will happen, but it will be the first time a former US president has testified to a congressional committee since Gerald Ford did so in 1983.
Late last month, the House Oversight Committee, which is mostly made up of Republicans, voted to hold the Clintons in contempt. A few Democrats also voted for it.The Clintons’ lawyers said the subpoenas were “unenforceable” and that they had already given the “limited information” they possessed on Epstein.
