Due to the temporary closure of London’s Heathrow Airport, passengers from Dubai whose flights were canceled are making the most of the situation by remaining optimistic and modifying their plans.

Many tourists are finding ways to use the disruption as an opportunity rather than dwelling on how frustrating canceled flights are. Others are taking advantage of the extra time to unwind, catch up with loved ones, or look into other trip choices.

One of the lucky passengers was Karim Jetha, who was on his way from Dubai to London on Friday morning for a family meal to celebrate his birthday.

He remarked, I was among the fortunate ones. “I had my luggage with me even though I had checked in online on my way to the airport and just as I got out of the taxi to go into the terminal, I got a message from Emirates saying that my flight had been canceled.

The largest airport in the UK had to close due to a power outage caused by a large fire at an electrical substation close to Heathrow Airport.
