“Due to the geopolitical developments in the Middle East and to ensure the safety of its passengers and crews,” Italy’s ITA Airways announced on its website that it is suspending flights to and from Tel Aviv.
Similarly, as of August 8, all passenger and cargo flights operated by Lufthansa Group to and from Tel Aviv have been cancelled, effective immediately, according to a German airline representative on Thursday.
The current developments in the area are the cause of this, the spokesperson continued. According to the spokesperson, the airline group has also decided to prolong the stop on its flights to and from Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, through August 12.
Following a strike that killed twelve children and teenagers on Saturday in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights, several airlines have cancelled or halted flights as Lebanon prepares for Israeli retaliation. Hezbollah has admitted no guilt.
The Dubai-based airline flydubai declared on Tuesday that, in light of the growing strain between Israel and Hezbollah, it has modified its flight schedule to include stops in Beirut, Lebanon.
