India Hopes that Pant will be Fitness for the Second Test

India Hopes that Pant will be Fit for the Second Test

Assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate stated on Tuesday that India is still confident that Rishabh Pant, who injured his knee in the first Test match, will be the wicketkeeper in the second Test match against New Zealand.

However, he injured the same knee that was operated on following a severe vehicle accident in December 2022, which kept him out of action for over a year, while keeping wickets.

As the hosts attempt to tie the three-match series in the Test beginning Thursday in Pune, his fitness is still a top priority. “I think Rishabh is doing pretty well,” ten Doeschate said to reporters. He was experiencing some little knee discomfort at the conclusion of his range of motion. But hopefully, he’ll be fine to keep for this test as well.

He had to endure a rigorous rehabilitation program after suffering abrasions to his back, a broken ligament in his right knee, and injuries to his wrist and ankle. Pant led the comeback in a 177-run stand with Sarfaraz Khan, who made 150 after replacing Shubman Gill after India was bowled out for 46 in the first game.
