In response to around 3,200 workers’ decision to reject a modified four-year labor deal, Boeing employees at the company’s fighter jet manufacturing locations in Missouri and Illinois went on strike Monday, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers union said on Sunday.

The new sixth-generation F-47 fighter jet, which US President Donald Trump personally supports and has referred to as the “most advanced, most capable, most lethal aircraft ever built,” may take longer to produce as a result of the strikes. There has never been anything even close to it in terms of all the characteristics of a fighter jet,” he continued.

The vote came after a previous plan from the ailing aerospace firm that promised a 20% salary raise over four years was rejected by members last week. In a statement, Sam Cicinelli, the union’s Midwest region general vice president, stated, “IAM District 837 members build the aircraft and defense systems that keep our country safe.

They are entitled to a contract that acknowledges their unparalleled competence and provides security for their families. Union officials had suggested accepting the offer at the time of the last vote, referring to it as a “landmark agreement” and claiming that it would enhance overtime, medical, and pension benefits.
