During his trip to Israel on Sunday, Trump informed reporters that he intended to speak with Putin about Tomahawks in order to put pressure on him to halt the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Is that the way they want Tomahawks to go? Not in my opinion,” Trump stated on Sunday. “I think I might speak to Russia about that.
In an attempt to get Moscow back to the bargaining table, Trump stated that he is now focusing on ending the war in Ukraine and is considering giving Kyiv long-range weapons, given the tenuous Israel-Hamas ceasefire agreement that is in place in Gaza.
Additionally, if Putin doesn’t come to the table soon, he’s indicating that he’s prepared to increase pressure on him.
On Wednesday night, Trump invited supporters of his White House ballroom project to a dinner and remarked, “Interestingly, we made progress today, because of what’s happened in the Middle East,” regarding the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
The truce in Gaza will pave the way for the United States to assist Israel in normalizing relations with many of its Middle Eastern neighbors, Trump said earlier this week in an address to Israel’s Knesset in Jerusalem.
