Beginning at the World Intellectual Property Organization’s (WIPO) headquarters in UAE. Geneva, Switzerland, and lasting until July 17, the 65th session of the Assemblies of WIPO member states is being attended by a delegation from the United Arab Emirates, led by Minister of Economy Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri.
Bin Touq reaffirmed that the UAE is developing its intellectual property (IP) sector in accordance with international best practices, in keeping with the vision of its wise leadership and viewing it as a key component in fostering the expansion of the country’s economy. In light of this, the UAE offers facilities and enablers that promote the development of knowledge-based businesses, innovation, and R&D and an incubating environment for IP, innovation, and patent activities in compliance with international best practices.
According to the Minister of Economy, the UAE’s 50th anniversary of joining the Organisation is being celebrated, making this year’s WIPO meeting especially significant. The two sides have had successful partnerships and productive cooperation throughout these eventful fifty years. He continued that the UAE is eager to maintain its collaboration with WIPO and the Member States, looking forward to more positive work to support the protection of intellectual property rights and the sharing of information and experience.
