On Wednesday, union officials said that Boeing Defense (BA.N) and the Machinists Union had struck a tentative agreement to terminate a five-week strike in the St. Louis area. According to the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, a vote on Boeing’s offer of a five-year contract is set for Friday.

With a five-year contract offer, we’ve found a path forward that increases wages by 45% on average,” said Dan Gillian, vice president of defense at Boeing, in a statement. “We encourage our staff to vote yes so we can resume creating incredible products for our clients, since it continues to be the best deal we’ve ever given to IAM 837.

Brandon Thiel, an IAM member who works on the F-15 program, stated, “They simply extended it another year without really offering anything more.”
Thiel stated that while he was unsure of his vote, “I have a strong inclination that it will not pass.” According to him, growing living expenses have nearly completely negated his raises throughout his seven years with Boeing.

We just want to be comfortable, to not stress out on every day,” he explained. IAM District 751 workers in Washington and Oregon settled a seven-week strike with a contract that includes a $12,000 signing bonus and a 38% pay raise.
