As European allies want to better utilize Kyiv’s combat expertise, Estonian Prime Minister Kristen Michal and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy have inked a new deal to increase cooperation on drones, military technology, and the defense sector.
The deal, which was signed on Tuesday on the fringes of the NATO summit in Ankara, would strengthen defense industry collaboration between Estonia and Ukraine, including the sharing of knowledge in cybersecurity, information technology, drone technology, and military innovation.
Michal asserted that more cooperation “will benefit our defense capability, the defense industry and Ukraine” and that Ukraine has built one of the most competitive defense industries in the world as a result of its experience repelling Russia’s invasion.
According to a press statement from Michal, defense products have “so far been subject to very strict export restrictions.” According to the agreement, Estonia, a Baltic nation of 1.3 million people, might purchase Ukrainian-developed capabilities or collaborate with Ukrainian businesses on jointly created systems suited to the requirements of the Estonian Defence Forces. Ukraine “is ready” to export defense items to Estonia.
