The cargo and logistics division of Etihad Airways, Etihad Cargo, is commemorating 20 years of business in India. This milestone shows the airline’s continued dedication to the Indian market since its inaugural flight to Mumbai on September 26, 2004.
With intentions to continue growing, Etihad Cargo has increased its footprint in India over time and is currently providing belly hold capacity via nonstop flights between Abu Dhabi and twelve important Indian locations.
Etihad Cargo transports approximately 46,000 tonnes of cargo yearly ex India, linking the country to over 100 global destinations via its Abu Dhabi hub with 588 widebody and narrowbody rotations each month. Etihad Cargo has expanded its product line, introducing new items and adding new features to suit the demands of particular industries better.
The carrier’s IATA CEIV Pharma-certified PharmaLife product offers precise temperature control, ideal for the safe transportation of expensive pharmaceuticals—a sector that is expanding in India.
Etihad Cargo has implemented strict cargo screening for shipments from major Indian hubs, such as Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, and Hyderabad, to the United States. The company also explores establishing new authorised pharma trade routes with important airline partners.
By enhancing connections and frequencies, Etihad Cargo’s Pharma roadshows in India, which were introduced in 2023, have assisted in doubling PharmaLife volumes. Furthermore, the expansion of electronics exports has been aided by the launch in 2024 of Etihad Cargo’s IATA CEIV Li-batt certified SecureTech solution.
