Following the establishment of Post Office Export Centers by India’s Ministry of Communications, Gulf importers can now obtain Indian goods manufactured by Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs) via post offices.
India’s Minister of State for Communications, Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, informed the Lok Sabha, the country’s lower house of parliament, that more than 1,000 Post Office Export Centers have been established nationwide for this reason.
The new facility would result in lower prices for importers of Indian goods compared to costly formalities at existing export hubs in India and traditional shipping methods via air and sea consignments.
According to the Minister, the goal is to establish these export hubs in each Indian district so that MSMEs, weavers, and craftspeople may reach global markets.
“Gems, jewelry, fabrics, apparel, leather products, handicrafts, herbal products, spices, musical instruments, watches, home appliances, tea and coffee are among the items to be traded through post offices,” Sekhar stated to lawmakers.
