As tensions in the area rise once more, Iran reported on Sunday that its forces had attacked a US naval drone that was trying to cross the Strait of Hormuz. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) claimed to have attacked a “unmanned surface vessel” off Iran’s south coast as it was about to enter the vital canal in a statement released by state TV.

The statement said, “The aggressor United States must understand that it has no choice but to leave the region and stop its acts of mischief.” This comes after the IRGC claimed to have attacked three oil tankers and three ships connected to the United States in the Strait. After US Marines attacked Iranian rocket launchers in the Strait of Hormuz on Sunday, the conflict flared up again.

The IRGC launched retaliation attacks on US locations around the Middle East after confirming that strikes had struck Larak Island. Following the strikes, CENTCOM commander Admiral Brad Cooper warned Tehran and its oil fleet on Saturday.Let the IRGC know that shooting at two of our ships would result in an even greater financial cost: we will destroy three of yours. He declared, “We will not think twice about defending American forces and, if necessary, destroying Iran’s small and vulnerable oil fleet.
