With the assistance of the far-left, Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally overthrew Prime Minister Michel Barnier’s administration in a no-confidence motion. The independent who narrowly won the election opposed the idea of overthrowing the government, and the party had lost a by-election in which its candidate campaigned to overthrow the Barnier administration.
Political analysts now interpret this as a rejection of Marine Le Pen. Her party does not have enough members to form a government despite being the largest in the National Assembly. Additionally, she wants to earn political credibility in the eyes of voters in order to run for president in 2027. Still, many parties, including Macron’s, would not want to create a coalition with her. Macron has served the two required terms and is therefore ineligible. Now, President Emmanuel Macron is searching for a different leader to name as prime minister.
According to the Socialists, Macron cannot select a prime minister he wants to lead the country. They insist that the new prime minister has to be a Leftist. The Socialists are on the Left end of the political spectrum and willing to do business with centrist Macron and his party. So, there are enough complications.
