Some UAE citizens have prolonged their four-day National Day break into a nine-day holiday by requesting three more vacation days. So, from Saturday, November 30, to Sunday, December 8, they were able to take a vacation.
Some workers took advantage of the extended break to travel, spend time with their families, and rekindle relationships with loved ones through ingenious planning.Mohammed Abu Nael, a Jordanian expat, used the prolonged vacation to travel to Amman to attend his cousin’s wedding. The wedding took place shortly after the formal holiday ended, on December 5–7.
At first, I had no intention of traveling on National Day or going to the wedding,” Mohammed remarked. However, I decided to travel back to my hometown after my cousin’s constant solicitations and the announcement of the four-day break. Before I left, I had to make sure I had completed all of my work obligations. In order to ensure that my presence was not necessary and that I could manage remotely if necessary, I even cleared duties that were scheduled for December 4–6.
Mohammed ensured he could participate in all of the wedding celebrations by scheduling his ticket to Amman for November 29 and returning on December 8. “The tickets were pricey; I spent more than Dh3,200 on a round-trip ticket. However, since I won’t be able to visit again, this was crucial for me.
