The UAE has started the second iteration of the Great Arab Minds program, with the support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai and vice president of the United Arab Emirates.
Heralded as the “Arab Nobel Prize” for its unique attempts to honour Arabs who have contributed extraordinarily to humanity, the initiative seeks to rekindle the exceptional scientific inquiry spirit and leadership in such endeavours that the Arab world has long exhibited.
The initiative honours Arab intellectuals who act as role models for the younger generation by showcasing their original ideas that elevate the Arab world’s standing in knowledge, science, and culture on the international scene, in addition to honouring pioneers, innovators, and creators whose extraordinary achievements forge new paths for their nations, Arab communities, and the world.
The goal of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, according to Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, UAE Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the Committee supervising the Great Arab Minds initiative, has been to create an enduring project since the beginning of this ground-breaking effort. This program seeks to uplift Arab intellectuals, highlight positive role models, and recognise exceptional people in order to establish the groundwork for a more significant Arab scientific movement in future.
