In response to Moscow’s biggest aircraft assault on Ukraine to date, US President Donald Trump has expressed his displeasure with Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin. Trump responded in a rare rebuke: “What the heck happened to him? He’s murdering more people. Putin was later described as “absolutely crazy” by him.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for “strong pressure” on Moscow, including more severe penalties, and said that Washington’s “silence” over recent Russian strikes was encouraging Putin. Russia launched 367 drones and missiles in Ukraine overnight Sunday, the most in a single night since Putin’s full-scale invasion in 2022, killing at least 12 people and injuring hundreds more.

Early on Monday, air sirens warning of approaching drones and missiles blasted once more in several parts of Ukraine. According to Mayor Ihor Terekhov, at least three people—including a child—were hurt in Kharkiv, which is located in the northeast.

I’ve known him a long time, always gotten along with him, but he’s sending rockets into cities and killing people. I don’t like it at all,” Trump said in a statement to reporters in New Jersey late Sunday. Trump said that Putin “has gone absolutely crazy” in a post on Truth Social shortly after.
