According to his office, former US President Joe Biden was found to have an aggressive type of prostate cancer that had spread to his bones.

According to a statement issued by his office on Sunday, Biden, 82, was diagnosed on Friday after medical professionals found a prostate nodule. According to the statement, the former president had “increasingly urinary symptoms” and was brought in for evaluation.

The cancer seems to be hormone-sensitive, which enables efficient treatment, even if this is a more severe version of the illness, according to his office. The President is discussing treatment options with his doctors and his family.”

During his presidency, Biden’s age and health were significant issues for US voters, eventually destroying his chances of winning a second term. Biden surrendered to growing pressure to withdraw from the reelection campaign following a lacklustre showing in the first presidential debate in June 2024. Then, Vice President Kamala Harris was selected by Biden’s Democratic Party as its nominee in the November election, but Donald Trump defeated her.

Trump, a harsh opponent of Biden who still holds the former president responsible for many of the US’s international and economic problems, expressed his sadness over the news on social media and stated that he and the first lady “wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.
