The anthropocentric Claude, a new tab that opens, is a direct rival to Microsoft-backed ChatGPT (MSFT.O), a chatbot that set records when it reached 100 million monthly active users in just two months of launch.
The Claude chatbot was previously freely accessible on the internet in some nations, but this is the first time it has been made available via iPhones and the web throughout the European Union, in addition to a few non-EU nations like Switzerland and Iceland.
European business customers can also access the “Claude Team” plan, which will cost 28 euros ($30.21) per month before value-added tax.
Earlier this month, the company launched a business-focused version of its chatbot to compete for corporate dollars. The move may yet put it in direct competition with its supporters, Google and Amazon, who also hope to gain a share of the business AI market.
Claude is already being used by millions of people worldwide to improve customer service, expedite scientific processes, and improve writing. “I’m excited to see what individuals and companies in Europe come up with with Claude,” stated Dario Amodei, co-founder and CEO of Anthropic.
