According to Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), the organisation has drawn projects valued at Dh43.6 billion over the course of ten years via the Independent Power and Water Producer (IPWP) model.

Al Tayer stated that Dewa used the best international experiences and practices to develop the IPWP model. This model has been developed in accordance with Dubai’s legal and technological requirements.

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park projects, which Dewa is implementing using the IPP model, are enticed by Dubai’s regulatory and legislative frameworks that permit the private sector to participate in energy generation projects. Our IPWP initiatives are in line with the Dubai Economic Agenda D33, which seeks to establish Dubai as one of the top three global cities and double the size of the city’s economy in ten years. Additionally, they support the goals of the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050, which call for all energy production by 2050 to come from clean sources,” Al Tayer stated.
