The Middle East is doomed unless there is a peace process that results in a Palestinian state, Jordan’s King Abdullah II has warned. In an exclusive interview with BBC Panorama, the king discussed President Donald Trump’s 20-point peace plan for the region as he got ready to attend a summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
The summit is occurring on the same day that Hamas exchanged Israeli-held Palestinian prisoners and detainees for the release of the last surviving Israeli captives in Gaza. King Abdullah claimed that the only way to resolve the region’s numerous failed peace attempts was to adopt the two-state solution, which calls for Israel and an independent Palestinian state to coexist in the West Bank and Gaza.
