One of Israel’s assaults on Iran last month apparently caused minor injuries to Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. According to Iran’s official Fars news agency, which is allied to the revolutionary guard, on June 16, six explosives targeted the entrance and exit of a covert subterranean facility in Tehran where Pezeshkian was present for a Supreme National Security Council emergency meeting.
As he and others fled by an emergency shaft, the president reportedly sustained injuries to his legs. Iran is reportedly investigating reports of Israeli operatives infiltrating the country. During the 12-day conflict, social media users shared videos of recurrent attacks on a mountainside in northwest Tehran.
The attacks on the fourth day of the conflict have now been revealed to have targeted a covert subterranean facility in Tehran that housed Iran’s senior commanders at the time. According to a report by the Fars news agency, the ventilation system and all six access and departure ports were closed by Israeli attacks. Even after the facility’s electricity was turned off, Pezeshkian was able to go to safety. Following Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme National Security Council is Iran’s principal decision-making body.
