According to China’s foreign ministry, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un will attend a military parade in Beijing on September 3rd, which is reportedly his first international-level gathering of leaders. It will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War Two and the Chinese war against Japan with the so-called “Victory Day” parade. 26 heads of state are anticipated to participate, including Russian President Vladimir Putin.
For the first time, China’s military will demonstrate its new force structure in full during a parade, showcasing hundreds of planes, tanks, and anti-drone devices.
Tens of thousands of soldiers from 45 supposedly top tiers of China’s military, along with veterans of the conflict, will march in formation through Tiananmen Square in the meticulously planned procession.
The 70-minute procession, which Chinese leader Xi Jinping will oversee, is anticipated to be closely observed by western nations and commentators.
There will be plenty of photo opportunities for Kim to attend the parade in the heart of Beijing, standing next to China’s Xi and Russia’s Putin. Xi will also gain a significant diplomatic victory.
The goal of US President Donald Trump’s negotiations with Putin is to put an end to the conflict in Ukraine. He also stated last week that he would like to see Kim once again.
