We recently had the privilege of having an insightful conversation with Lusine Aghajanyan, Founder and Strategy Lead Decision Intelligence & Applied AI of Lunova Maritime. A reputed leader in the industry, she is empowering maritime companies to redefine how they operate. With deep global experience across financial discipline, operational execution, and human systems, her vision is to build measurable, trust based organizations powered by structured intelligence.
The Beginning
We started the interview by asking, “Could you please share about your journey?”
Lusine Aghajanyan shared. “I have worked in the maritime sector for over a decade, including serving as CFO in a global ship management company. That experience shaped a global mindset. I dealt with multi jurisdictional operations, complex data flows, diverse crews, owners, suppliers, and regulators. I saw how financial pressure, operational risk, and human dynamics interact daily.
What became clear to me is that most issues around fairness, performance, and trust do not begin with people. They begin with unclear measurements. When KPIs are inconsistent, cost allocation lacks transparency, or reporting is fragmented, misalignment grows. Proper measurement restores fairness. Fairness restores trust.
My Executive Education in Business Analytics at Cambridge Judge Business School strengthened how I structure complex data into decision systems. But the foundation came from lived operational reality.”
More About Lunova Maritime
Intrigued to learn about Lusine Aghajanyan’s company, we asked her to share the same.
Lusine Aghajanyan shared, “Lunova is the platform. Lunova Maritime is the first transformation mission.
Maritime is one of the most tradition rooted industries, yet it now faces regulatory pressure, cost volatility, ESG demands, digital risk, and increasing stakeholder scrutiny. I chose to focus here first because I understand its depth and because the opportunity for structured intelligence is significant.
At Lunova Aghajanyan, I combine four forms of intelligence into one integrated system: human intelligence, operational intelligence, collective organizational intelligence, and artificial intelligence. These are unified through my 5D methodology, a structured algorithmic framework that ensures transformation is Discover driven, Diagnose grounded, Design structured, Deliver executed, and Drive continuously measured.
We build decision architecture, not dashboards. We align finance with operations through consistent KPIs, transparent cost drivers, predictive visibility, and exception based control. AI enhances pattern recognition and speed, but human judgment remains on top of the system.
Trust is central. Maritime relationships are long term and capital intensive. When measurement is disciplined and governance is clear, credibility strengthens with owners, crews, partners, and regulators.
I am highly selective with clients. I work with leaders who share long horizon thinking and value alignment. I currently hold a three year exclusive engagement across the maritime sector. For this period, my priority is fully committed to proving and scaling this integrated intelligence model within maritime before expanding Lunova into other complex industries.”
A Unique Leadership Approach
An efficient leader can take the business to new heights of success. To understand Lusine Aghajanyan’s leadership in the maritime sector, we asked her to share a glimpse of her approach for our readers.
“My leadership philosophy is structured intelligence with human accountability.
I define what is measured, how it is measured, who owns it, and how it drives decisions. When organizations share a single source of operational truth, performance stabilizes and politics reduces.
AI is used to enhance foresight, anomaly detection, cost discipline, and operational resilience. But systems only work when culture supports them. I therefore design governance and responsibility frameworks alongside the analytics.
Transformation must be measurable. Every intervention is tracked, reviewed, and refined. Intelligence without execution is theory. Execution without intelligence is noise.”
Values Guiding Lusine Aghajanyan’s Journey
Lastly, we asked, “Could you please highlight the principles that guide your professional path?”
“Clarity, accountability, and trust guide everything I build.
In maritime, reputation is capital. Transparent measurement protects relationships and strengthens long term partnerships. I prefer fewer engagements with deeper structural impact.
Lunova will expand into other industries where complexity demands integrated intelligence. For now, my focus is clear: modernize maritime through disciplined measurement, AI enhanced insight, and values driven leadership.”
