Melania Trump, the first lady, has denied any ties to Jeffrey Epstein, telling reporters at the White House that any allegations “need to end today.” The first lady unexpectedly announced on Thursday that survivors of Epstein’s sex trafficking should have congressional hearings.
Additionally, she refuted internet rumors that Epstein had introduced her to Donald Trump, characterizing them as “mean-spirited attempts to defame my reputation.” The announcement’s cause is unknown.
Her staff had not previously indicated that she would comment on Epstein, and the White House had not previously discussed the subject before her remarks were scheduled for the day.
She claimed that she had only “crossed paths” with Epstein in 2000 and that she had not been a victim of him.”I’ve never heard of Epstein abusing his victims,” she stated. “I had no involvement at all. I didn’t participate. Additionally, she denied knowing Ghislaine Maxwell, the jailed associate of the disgraced financier. In a 2002 email between her and Maxwell that was made public in the Epstein files, she described it as “casual correspondence” and a “polite reply.
