According to a media source, the UN agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA) has warned that severe cold and rain this winter could endanger over a million displaced Palestinians in Gaza.

“Gaza’s displaced population needs shelter from the cold and rain.” The UN agency stated in a statement that only about 23% of this demand has been satisfied, putting 945,000 people at risk of exposure this winter. “As the crisis worsens, aid is desperately needed to address the overwhelming needs.”

As Israeli bombings destroyed homes and the number of victims rose, the UN also reiterated its plea for a ceasefire in Gaza.

In a post on X, the UN agency for Palestinian refugees stated, “People in Deir Al Balah and throughout Gaza sift through the debris of their destroyed homes, attempting to salvage what little remains after an Israeli airstrike.”

“As strikes persist, more civilians are killed, and houses and essential infrastructure are destroyed. This war has an intolerable human cost. We urgently require a ceasefire.

Separately, a news source said that since the Israeli offensive began last year, more than 4,000 amputations and 2,000 cases of spinal and brain damage have been reported in Gaza. According to Al Shifa Medical Complex Director Muhammad Abu Salmiya, “children make up the majority of those who have lost limbs.
