After learning that Kanye West will be the main act at the three-day Wireless Festival in London this summer, Pepsi has declared that it will no longer be sponsoring the event. The American rapper, who is now known as Ye, apologized in January for remarks he made in recent years that were widely criticized for being antisemitic.
Prior to this, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer stated that it was “deeply concerning” that West would headline Wireless. Sir Keir stated that West had been booked “despite his previous antisemitic remarks and celebration of Nazism” in remarks first published by the Sun on Sunday. The prime minister declared, “Antisemitism in any form is abhorrent and must be confronted firmly wherever it appears.”It is everyone’s duty to make sure that Jews feel safe in Britain.
Earlier this week, West, 48, was revealed as the main act for the three days of the July rap and R&B event in north London. Pepsi was the primary sponsor of the festival, which is promoted as Pepsi presents Wireless.
