A US source has announced that superstar football player Cristiano Ronaldo will visit the White House on Tuesday, the same day as the head of Saudi Arabia, the country where Ronaldo currently plays. The White House source did not mention Ronaldo as a member of the formal delegation of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
But because of his prominent position in the Saudi football league, he has come to represent the nation’s modernization efforts under the de facto ruler, the crown prince, who aims to diversify into other industries like sports and tourism in order to lessen the nation’s reliance on oil profits. He has been accused of sexual assault in the interim. Ronaldo refuted Kathryn Mayorga’s 2009 allegations that he had sexually assaulted her in a hotel room in Las Vegas.
I strongly reject the charges made against me. In a 2018 statement, he declared, Rape is an abhorrent crime that goes against everything that I am and believe in.” US prosecutors declared in 2019 that Ronaldo will not be charged because the allegations were unproven. Early in 2023, Ronaldo moved to Saudi Arabia as the captain of Al-Nassr, a football team controlled by the crown prince’s sovereign wealth fund, PIF, and the face of the Saudi Pro League.
