At the House of Wisdom (HoW) in Sharjah, the second edition of the “Chapters of Islamic Art” exhibition with the topic “Travelogues” was opened by Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairperson of the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq).
The four-month-long exhibition honors the achievements of notable cartographers, geographers, and travelers from the Golden Age of Islamic Science and beyond, presenting their creations that have enriched various cultures and established the groundwork for geographical knowledge.
The exhibition, which runs through July 5 at HoW’s Khawarizmi Exhibition Hall, takes guests on an enthralling historical voyage while displaying an extensive collection of rare manuscripts, books, and maps.
Curated items from Professor Richard Ettinghausen’s prestigious collection are among the highlights, along with priceless artifacts from the King Faisal Center for Research and Islamic Studies in Saudi Arabia, the Dr. Sultan Al Qasimi Centre, the Sharjah Museums Authority, and the Manuscripts House in Sharjah.
