Azerbaijan is preparing to sue Russia in international courts for the December 25 accident of Azerbaijan Airlines Flight 8243 near Aktau, according to President Ilham Aliyev. The plane was on its way from Baku to Grozny when it crashed near the Kazakh city of Aktau on the Caspian Sea, killing 38 people.
We can say with all certainty that the plane was shot up by Russia We are not saying that it happened intentionally, but it was done,” Aliyev said three days after the tragedy in a national speech. Then he asserted that Baku had asked Russi for three things regarding the catastrophe.
Minval, an Azerbaijani media site, reports that Aliyev stated on Saturday that despite the fact that the incident’s facts are “as clear as day,” Russia has not responded significantly to Azerbaijan seven months after the disaster.
In addition, Aliyev stated that the head of Russia’s Investigative Committee has received requests from the Azerbaijani prosecutor general, who has only received the response that “The investigation is ongoing.” He called this approach ineffective and reiterated Baku’s resolve to pursue international justice.
Therefore, Aliyev added, Azerbaijan has notified Russia that it is preparing a dossier for a comparable case. Regarding the 2014 Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disaster inquiry, which resulted in 239 fatalities.
