The UN Security Council has approved a US-sponsored resolution backing President Donald Trump’s 20-point plan for Gaza, which includes the creation of an International Stabilisation Force (ISF) to help maintain security in the region.

Thirteen member states, including the UK, France, and Somalia, voted in favor of the measure, while Russia and China abstained. None opposed it. The United Nations described the adoption as an important step toward consolidating the fragile ceasefire in Gaza.

The plan calls for the deployment of an ISF comprising troops from several unnamed countries, according to US officials. The force will work with Israel, Egypt, and a newly trained Palestinian police unit to secure border areas and oversee the disarmament of non-state armed groups, including Hamas, which has controlled policing in the territory up to now.

Hamas immediately rejected the resolution, calling it a violation of Palestinian rights. Writing on Telegram, the group said the plan “imposes an international guardianship mechanism” on Gaza and claimed that assigning the ISF disarmament duties undermines its neutrality and makes it “a party to the conflict in favour of the occupation.
