Many private sector workers can plan their yearly leave around January 1, 2025, for longer celebrations, as the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization has declared it a public holiday. After seven years in the United Arab Emirates, senior accountant John Andrew is returning to Australia on December 23 and will be back on January 3. He clarified, “I always make sure to save my annual leave for this time of year.” “Spending the holidays with my family is vital to me. Being away from home makes it much more meaningful to be reunited with loved ones over Christmas, a custom I treasure.
John’s strategy of planning his leave well in advance allows him to maximise his time with family. He stressed the importance of balancing work commitments with personal life. “I try to manage my leave to take advantage of long weekends and public holidays, especially during the festive season,” he adds.
