The New York Times said on Wednesday that US President Donald Trump plans to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in person, potentially as early as next week, according to two individuals familiar with the arrangement. Trump is said to conduct a three-way meeting with Putin, Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and himself following those discussions.
During a Wednesday night chat with Zelenskyy and European leaders, Trump revealed those plans, according to sources. There would be no representation from Europe at the meetings; just those three presidents would be there.
That follows Zelenskyy’s statement in his nightly speech on Wednesday that following US special envoy Steve Witkoff’s visit to Moscow, Russia seemed more receptive to a truce. The pressure is effective on them. However, the crucial point is that neither the US nor us are misled in the specifics,” he stated.
Regarding Witkoff’s meetings with Putin in Moscow, Trump said on his Truth Social platform that the meeting was “highly productive” and that “great progress was made” without providing specifics. This conflict needs to end, and we will strive to do it in the days and weeks ahead, as everyone agrees. I appreciate you giving this some thought. He shared on social media.
