According to an investor presentation, Wynn Al Marjan Island in Ras Al Khaimah would have a 225,000-square-foot gaming facility, which amounts to around 4% of the property’s gross floor area.
The General Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA) of the United Arab Emirates revealed to Khaleej Times earlier this month that Wynn Resorts, a hotel and casino operator, had received the nation’s first licence for a commercial gaming operator. The authorities list it as a “land-based gaming facility licence.”
Wynn also revealed in its investor presentation that the license has a 15-year expiration date and is renewable. There will also be a “maximum of one land-based licence per Emirate” in the UAE. According to Wynn, two more “competitive integrated resorts” are anticipated to open in the United Arab Emirates. Last month, MGM Resorts International, a US-based company, declared that it had applied for a licence to run a casino in Abu Dhabi.
Wynn stated that it anticipates providing Ras Al Khaimah with “meaningful long-term economic benefits” from its Al Marjan Island property. These include a rise in leisure and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism, increased tax revenues, and increased employment of 7,500 employees upon opening.
