According to local accounts, Israeli airstrikes and fighting between Hamas and a Palestinian militia supported by Israel have killed at least ten Palestinians in central Gaza. According to reports, the attacks were directed against Hamas security forces who had engaged in combat with militia members east of the Maghazi refugee camp.
How many of them perished in the strikes or in the ground combat is unknown. The bodies of ten victims were transported to the al-Aqsa hospital in Deir al-Balah, according to a representative for the facility. They said that dozens more individuals had been injured, some of whom were in severe condition. Neither Hamas nor the Israeli military immediately responded. It’s still unclear exactly what happened on Monday.
Witnesses claimed that when members of the militia supported by Israel established a checkpoint east of Maghazi, they were attacked by Hamas security guards, which led to fighting. According to the witnesses, Israeli drones attacked Hamas personnel in three different areas as part of their intervention to support the militants. The ceasefire that Israel and Hamas agreed upon over six months ago has been routinely violated, according to accusations made by both parties.
