At a time when traditional TV demand is declining, streaming behemoth Netflix and major French broadcaster TF1 have agreed to combine parts of their services. Beginning in the summer of 2026, all French Netflix subscribers will be able to view TF1 channels and TF1+ on-demand material directly on Netflix.

This includes significant live sporting events, soap operas like Demain nous appartient, and dramas like Broceliande. These will soon be accessible alongside Netflix’s foreign shows and films and its own French-language content.

In a news statement, Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters stated, “This is a first-of-its-kind partnership that plays to our strengths of giving audiences the best entertainment alongside the best discovery experience.

The CEO of TF1 Group, Rodolphe Belmer, continued: “We have already built solid partnerships with Netflix through ambitious co-productions in recent months, so I am thrilled about this new engagement with them.

The companies did not reveal how they will handle subscription and advertising revenue, and it is still unclear if Netflix paid an upfront price for the material. Being a free-to-air television in France, TF1 depends on advertising revenue, even for its streaming services.

In addition to serving 35 million customers on its TF1+ streaming service, the TV network today reaches 58 million people monthly through its broadcast stations. Additionally, the firm oversees over 50 production companies and labels in France and abroad through Studio TF1.
