Russian strikes around Ukraine overnight claimed the lives of at least seven people, including five in the central city of Dnipro, where authorities reported an apartment complex was struck. Rescue personnel were still looking for survivors beneath the debris in Dnipro on Saturday morning, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who stated that the most recent attack lasted “practically all night”.
When Russian drones were spotted close to the border during the intense assault, British jets were rushed from Romania; however, the UK Ministry of Defence denied reports that it had shot down some of them.
Deep within Russian territory, Ukraine launched some of its longest-range drone strikes. Six people were hurt when a structure was hit in Yekaterinburg, which is about 1,000 miles (1,600 km) from the Ukrainian border, according to the governor. Meanwhile, a local official in adjacent Chelyabinsk reported that drones aimed at an industrial site were intercepted.
Along with Odesa and Kharkiv, Russian missiles and drones also targeted the northern city of Chernihiv, where authorities reported two fatalities. The majority of the more than 600 Russian drones were repelled, according to Ukrainian authorities. This seems to have been the biggest strike in a few days.
