Recently, a definitive agreement was reached by US-based cloud computing company Akamai Technologies to acquire Noname Security, an API security company.

As the use of APIs grows, Akami thinks Noname will improve its current API Security solution and speed up its capacity to satisfy expanding customer demand and market requirements.

With Noname’s expanded sales and marketing capabilities and its existing channel and alliance relationships, the company anticipates even greater scale.

Apps runs our world, but as users and apps grow, so do security threats, according to Mani Sundaram, general manager and executive vice president of Akamai Technologies’ Security Technology Group.

Akamai has observed an increasing demand for API protection, as evidenced by our own data, which indicates a 109% increase in API attacks annually. Akamai thinks it will have a range of deployment options and integrations with Noname to provide customers with complete API protection in all environments.

According to Oz Golan, the CEO and co-founder of Noname, “API development is still on the rise as businesses prioritize investing in digital transformation and application modernization projects.
