WAVES 2025: PM Modi Supports the Orange Economy for GDP Development and Welcomes International Producers to India

At the inaugural WAVES Summit 2025, held in Mumbai on Thursday, May 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India’s creative and cultural sectors will play a crucial role in driving the nation’s future economic growth.

Speaking to a worldwide audience of artists, financiers, and decision-makers from more than 100 nations, Modi positioned India as a developing centre in the global entertainment and content industry, which he dubbed the “Orange Economy.

In the upcoming years, Modi predicted that India’s GDP will be firmly supported by the Orange Economy, which is based on content, innovation, and culture. India is already leaving its imprint on the world stage in a variety of fields, including animation, gaming, and music. The opportunities are endless.

He mentioned that Indian films have been seen by people all over the world and that over-the-top (OTT) platforms in India have increased tenfold in the last few years. According to him, “messages are becoming macro, but screens are becoming micro.

Citing India’s rich cultural heritage, tales, and talent, Modi urged international investors and content producers to “make India their content playground.” According to him, “India has a treasure trove of timeless stories that are global in nature, and the world is looking for new ways of storytelling.
