To commemorate their historic Champions League victory, French President Emmanuel Macron invited the Paris Saint-Germain football team to the presidential house on Sunday. PSG was paraded down the Champs-Élysées in an open roof coach bus before to their meeting with Macron.

The day before, in Munich, the squad defeated Inter Milan of Italy 5-0 in the competition final. It was PSG’s first time winning the championship after losing to Bayern Munich in their lone prior final in 2020.

Following the team’s victory, celebrations broke out nationwide, and according to French police, two individuals lost their lives. The national police said that a 17-year-old teenager was fatally stabbed during a PSG street party in the city of Dax.

According to the interior minister’s office, another individual was murdered in Paris during PSG celebrations when a vehicle struck his scooter. Investigations are underway into the circumstances surrounding both fatalities.

According to the interior ministry, hundreds of individuals were arrested and 18 police officers were hurt in Paris. As he welcomed PSG to the Elysee Palace, Macron denounced the “unacceptable” violence that had taken place during the celebrations after the team’s triumph.
