On Monday night, live flight tracker FlightRadar24 posted on X that air traffic was suspended at Copenhagen Airport because of reports of drone sightings. Thirty-five flights that were scheduled to arrive at Copenhagen Airport were rerouted to other airports as of 22:05 CET.

According to the article, the most flights were received by airports in Malmö, Billund, Aarhus, and Gothenburg. A police spokesperson informed news agency Reuters that two to four “large” drones were observed in the vicinity.

There are a lot of police officers around the airport, according to local media. When everything returns to normal is unknown. Norwegian network NRK reports that another drone incident occurred at Oslo’s airport that same evening, requiring all traffic to shift to a single runway. Who caused the event is unknown, and traffic has since returned to normal.

In recent weeks, many drone and fighter jet breaches into NATO airspace, together with an increase in Russian sabotage actions, have raised security worries in northern Europe. The airport closure caused at least 35 flights headed for Copenhagen to be diverted, according to flight-tracking website Flightradar24.
