According to local media and football player Héctor Bello, a Venezuelan mother perished while rescuing her daughter during the country’s earthquakes. During two strong earthquakes, Bello claimed on Instagram that “his precious love,” identified by Venezuelan media as his wife Andrea, saved their toddler’s life.In his post, Bello wrote, “I’ll tell her the story of how you saved her, my love—how you gave your life for our daughter, how you were a brave woman who never abandoned her, even as you took your last breaths.”

After twin earthquakes in the capital Caracas left at least 920 dead and over 3,000 injured, rescuers are still searching through the debris for survivors. Bello said in a string of posts that he went to Caracas, where his daughter was hospitalized.

Despite their good health, my daughter and her aunt will remain in the hospital today rather than being released. He wrote on Friday night, “Thank you so much for supporting me through this immense pain.” Additionally, Cumaná de Campeones, a local football press and PR organization in Venezuela, posted about her passing.
