According to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Ports Security (ICP), the exit permit is valid for 14 days after it is issued. If the UAE beneficiary does not depart within that time, the permit will be automatically revoked, and any outstanding fines and search warrants will be reinstated. According to the ICP, an exit permit would be issued directly for an overstayer who wishes to leave the country and has already provided fingerprint biometrics. If fingerprint biometrics are unavailable, the beneficiary would be asked to visit the designated fingerprinting centres, where an exit permit would be issued after the fingerprint procedures were finished. In addition to stating that the law would be upheld and that all fines previously incurred prior to the amnesty that started on September 1 would be reinstated, the ICP urged overstayers to take the initiative and take advantage of the amnesty granted to them to modify their status by submitting their applications through its authorised printing offices and electronic and smart channels. The ICP stated that among the many benefits of the amnesty period for modifying overstayers’ status is the exemption from administrative fines related to residency and visas that result from an illegal stay in the country. Establishment card, ID, Ministry of Human Resources, and Emiratization fines will also be exempt.
