A dependable supporter of President Donald Trump, Charlie Kirk was one of the most well-known conservative activists and media figures in the United States. Kirk was renowned for hosting open-air discussions on college campuses throughout the nation to question the opinions of young people. Kirk, 31, killed Wednesday in what authorities suspect was a deliberate shooting at an event at a Utah college.
At the age of 18, he helped create Turning Point USA (TPUSA), a student organization that has now grown to hundreds of campuses and aims to promote conservative ideas at liberal US universities. He gained notoriety on social media and through his own daily podcast for engaging kids across the country in debates about topics such as faith, family values, climate change, and transgender identity.
On Wednesday, President Donald Trump paid tribute to Kirk by announcing his unexpected death: “The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead.” Charlie had the best understanding and grasp of the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America.
For many years, Kirk’s political radar for the grassroots nature of the MAGA movement was prized by the president and his advisors. Kirk spoke at Republican conventions in 2020 and 2024, and Donald Trump reciprocated last year by appearing at a Turning Point gathering in Arizona.
