In order to maintain boxing’s centrality to the Olympic Movement, the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) has consented to join World Boxing, an international federation.
The BFI General Assembly has accepted the membership application, and the Executive Board of World Boxing will now ratify it. Recently, the President and Secretary General of World Boxing met with the President of the BFI, Ajay Singh, to talk about how India can help the International Federation, which is one of the biggest National Federations in Asia, expand its membership base.
The BFI wants to be a pioneer in the formation of an Asian Confederation and encourage the recruitment of other National Federations as part of its dedication to the advancement of World Boxing in the future.
India is a significant country in international boxing, and we look forward to welcoming the BFI into the growing World Boxing family,” stated Boris van der Vorst, President of World Boxing. We will be much more present in Asia due to this exciting development, and I look forward to collaborating closely with the BFI to achieve our shared objectives. During our recent meeting and public remarks, the IOC sent a strong message to all National Federations.
