The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not be able to carry out official engagements now that they have returned to the United Kingdom, according to a letter received on King Charles’ behalf. The letter is meant to clarify the situation of Prince Harry and Meghan, who returned from California with their children Archie and Lilibet last month.

According to the letter delivered on behalf of the King by the Lord Chamberlain, a top Palace official, they will continue to be unable to use titles such as “His and Her Royal Highness” and will remain “private citizens”.

It comes as Prince Harry appears to have been photographed for the first time since his homecoming, with a social media post showing him at a London TV and podcast studio. The King’s letter has been delivered to Prince Harry’s team, government departments, military officials, and Lord Lieutenants, according to Palace insiders.

Lord Lieutenants, the monarch’s local representatives, and government officials are frequently involved in royal visits and engagements. This letter clarifies that any engagements carried out by the Sussexes will be in a private capacity and will not represent the Royal Family.
